3SIX0 RENDER CHALLENGE
written by nallen00 on 2009-03-31 15:47:50

After posting their free HDRI and backplates, the team at 3six0 decided that if we wanted more, we were going to work for it.

The terms were simple:

the top three renders using their free HDRI and backplates would receive a free 12 month
subscription
to the sick environmental
compendium at 3six0.

Sounds easy...right?

Overview

This all started with a post by plugin of 3six0, offering a free environmental pack. Shortly after, the decision was made to form a contest based on these materials, and here we are. Submissions have been pouring in since late January, and while most were very well executed, not everyone gets a prize. You'll find the top three picks below, along with the top 10-15 honorable mentions. Thanks to everyone who participated, and to the 3six0 team for making it happen!

The Winners

Brooks

Considering the level of his work, Brooks has done an incredible job of keeping a low profile around here. He has proven his ability to burn a mean retro-style print in his 1970 Plymouth Fury thread, and his 3six0 submission is no exception. Impeccable work, Brooks - congratulations!

stormblast

He hasn't been here long, but he certainly didn't waste any time getting to the top! His Maserati is an excellent example of a well-executed motion render, and looks like it could have been snipped from a magazine ad. Is there something you'd like tell us, Stormblast...? Just kidding buddy - congratulations!

vertexclown

This guy is no clown. His Subaru nails 3six0's photo-realism benchmark to the wall. And as if that weren't enough, he detailed the wiper sweeps through the dust on the windshield! Another top-notch effort from one from the CGCars readership. Congratulations Mr. Clown!
