Heres a quick shot of the bonnet - I think this tuning might turn out to be quite extreme and performance oriented Click here to enlarge Click here to enlarge

Just adding some more detail, and have run into a problem with the symmetry modifier.

The first screenshot attached shows the basic editable poly with no symmetry or smoothing.

The next screenshot shows the same bit with symmetry modifier turned on - but all the vertices on the join have merged together :S

Any help with how to stop this happening?

Just lower the threshold on the symmetry modifier. everything under this value is welded together and since your verts seem to be closer than 0,1 they´re welded together....simple as that Click here to enlarge
    hope that helps

I don't know about your hood.... it seem doesn't look right. The edges of these outlet look too sharp.

Nice so far but the rear vents look slightly weird because to me there not the same style as the deep vents in the rest of the bonnet, anyways hope to see some updates soon.
