    CarParts: Rims & Tyres CollectionThread

i wasnt quite sure where to put this, because you wudnt put your rims in a WIP section or the Finished car section lol so ive plonked it here for a mod/admin to decide where it goes

anyway i noticed on SMCars they have a lil thing goin for people to pot renders of the rims theyve made, just thought it would be a good idea to do the same Click here to enlarge Hope you all agree

Heres the rim off my m3. No lights used in the 2nd render and it still took an hour to render.

    Tell me what you think

First off, MG. They are flipping amazing rims, some of the best that i have seen so far. Well done!

S.O.A.D the bump mapping that i presume you used for the text on your tires looks a little flat. Kind of makes the rubber look a bit false. I am not sure though but i think you see what i mean. Other than that they look great, well done.

I noticed shaddix mention something about using a diffuse map on his tyre texture. I'd like to hear a bit more about using diffuse mapping - is it worth playing with. The diffuse is something thats always lost me :/

hehehe, i will answer for shaddix... ye he ment you need a diffuse map to colorize the tyre (logos dimension numbers etc.) ..and to get the relief more structured if you know what u mean? to use only a reliefmap looks not by far that good... so u need a reliefmap and a diffusemap to get a result like shaddix has Click here to enlarge
