sorry rod i've amended my last post k Click here to enlarge

    Hi i just had some thought's ...
I have modeled my own head using box modeling .. I do find it can be long and tedious at times and i lose way track of time, althought i do love the result... I m pretty slow at things and am sorta worried about the speed at which i work things out at .

I ve seen someone do alittle bit of poly modeling (extruding polys then adjusting them)
    1. so the question is how well does poly modelling work with cars ? is it quicker ?

    2. I spent 6 hours working on the rubber under the window on the car side Click here to enlarge...it should be a 20 - 30mins tops right ? ( i was tired and it was 4 a.m. )

    3. How long should something like this take ?
I m just really worried that im just slow to be of use to anyone ... so from newbie to pro if you could state your skill and rough time spent on this project plx?

thanks for reading hopefully i m not going too far off topic ....Click here to enlarge

i'm the slowest modeler ever so i can only comment to a point. i think you should experiment with both methods to see which works better. their differences aren't actually all that great, it's just a matter of being used to one or more comfortable..

    question about hte modeling

for this tut should we detach the rubber under the window seprately ... or as one long stip ?

It takes me ages to model simple rubber .. through extruding methords as i have to remove duplicate edges .. I have tired modelling them individually and they don't match well but can i get away with it ?

I feel people doing tut this will benifit from the answer .
    cheers Click here to enlarge

Edit: working on it still I think I can get the possiably to match already spent 3 and half hours on this little piece so far I guess a little more time and i m think i can do it.

Edit again: have got it too look similiar by sorta looking in a diffrerent view ... but i have a problem getting with the shell melding into the next piece of rubber next to it .. see my WIP plx

Hmm just wondering as a broad sorta question about this tut ...

this is my first car .. and was hoping to spend 2 weeks .. .. looks like it's gonna take much longer unless i cut alot of corners

Is this tut to hard for a newbies like me ? or is it for newbies because there was mention that this car is slightly difficult cause of it's angular nature ...

any thoughts ? Click here to enlarge

Man, really appreciate this tutorial. I have been trying to get a grasp of poly modeling as well as box modeling but, in terms of box modeling, just didn't know where to start. :banghead:

Where did you get your textures from? A website or did you take the photos yourself? Thank you so much for this tutorial!
