Hi guys!
I'm thinking about buy a new computer, maybe a Macbook Pro, as this:
2.4GHz quad-core
Intel Core i7
8GB 1333MHz
750GB 7200-rpm
Intel HD Graphics 3000
AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 1GB GDDR5
I have this idea because I play guitar, make some songs, and Mac have too much excelent tools for this, I play in one band..
Can I take the macbook in the studio..
I use Guitar Rig, and when i buy one macbook, probably i'll use Logic Pro.. and much more.
I'll start studying at university and working with video editing also, and this is very good in Mac
For example, my university has labs with iMacs
Mac is good for modeling in Maya ? This is my doubt..
3Ds Max will work on BootCamp too..
I know Mac is a really good computer, but i think about the 3D, modeling, animation.........
Someone have Macs or ideas about this ?
Thanks, guys!

well....actually not....if u really like modeling don't use a mac...A friend of mine has a Macbook pro and i left modeling...this summer i had to change its HDD and create a partition with windows 7 to be able to model again...and he also had many problems with the more powerfull videocard, so he's forced to use the intel one (very low)
Macs aren't that good IMO, theyr prices are way too high for the service...i created my little workstation with the same costs buying a ma pro at lowest level...
The reason u buy it is for Guitar playing (good choice for that) and video editing....U will be able to model for sure, but u will face problems...copy that!
There's nothing better than staring at a product you modeled on a screen getting into production and coming to reality.
I use a macbook pro now for modelling i 3ds max. A early 2011, 2,3ghz core i7, 1gb grapichs, 8gb ram, 256gb SSD drive, bootcamp with W7.
Works perfect for me atleast.
And for those of you that haven't tried a Mac with OsX for a week or so, don't say it's shit. If i hadn't done 3d modeling i never had used windows again. That software is worth paying for!
don't get angry breden! i study with so many macs around me (kinda temporary fashion) and i've been working on them to try to fix bugs with cad programs or anything else...i told u my personal point of vue and also Chris told what i was arguing....mac isn't made for modeling and nor for programming...it's a closed box u get and if there's something not working, well...u have to install win7 on ur beautiful mac...all those people who loves mac are used to say that windows is shit...but then they'r forced to work with it...i mean...that's reality....i will never pay for a macbook that will least 3 years when i can spend less than a half money and get the same pc that allow me to do everything i want to! anyway Luke..i told ya...for music is perfect, also if many many sound programs used by professional DJs ( i told DJs) are available only for windows if u're used to mac, stay with mac....i heard that the new os is very powerfull...give it a try and make ur choice!
and my friend used MAYA, not 3ds....that's completely different, and he had many problems with mac release on lion osx...he always had to work on my little 400 bucks Parckard Bell that does the job!

try try =) we have i-macs and on them there isn't any 3d modeling program =P only adobe packs...eheh (and they are very loud when working a lot of time at full throttle...i mean...on my custom pc i got some oversized heater and now it's really silent even for weeks of render!)

iMacs are well known for being very silent, especially the newer ones. The fans of my iMac never runs fast enough to be hearable, no matter how big tasks I give it. When turning of the screen, you can barely tell if it's on. What you, Briex, might be hearing, is the SuperDrive.
On Topic: We got that exact MacBook Pro, I have tried running Maya on it, and as far as I can tell, it works fine.
well i heard at full trhottle all the fans and i mean...it is very noisy...maybe they are not the newer ones, i know they have been there since 2009 in my school...anyway...maybe on newer ones maya has probably been updated, cos the first version of 2012 had many many bugs on lion...i'm no longer updated because my friend stop using it and installed win7 on partition...anyway...i'm a pc user and as i know is the best for 3d, bt for music as u play u should go for a mac!

I don't want to start new thread so I use this
I would like to buy new computer..I would like to do things in blender..hobby for me..and play games but I don't need any excellent details..just play newer games sometimes..I found this
ASUS P8H61
Intel Core i5-3570K
ASUS ENGTX570 DCII/2DIS/1280MD5
Kingston 8GB KIT DDR3 1600MHz CL9 HyperX X2 Grey Series
do you have any experiences with any of these?
I changed graphics card and motherboard
Graphics: GAINWARD GTX570 1.28GB DDR5 GS Goes Like Hell
MB: GIGABYTE Z68P-DS3
I hope that this will work well
Take care of ur bills man! Don't wnat to know how much that videocard will suck, energy speaking =P LOL i gave up buying a gefforce when i saw da huge power consumption...no need for me anyway, is a great card for games...but also be carefull cos nvidia is trying to split its market, creating game cards not compatible with 3d apps...i heard that...hope is not true...even if it makes sense, cos quadros and teslas assures em a huge money return, anyway, not ur turn

Mac is a perfect stuff for graphics and sound. Unfortunately now I'm still on PC but as soon as I can I will head on Mac for better Ableton and Logic performances, and 3D\2D for sure. As for me Modo, Lightwave and Cinema are much better then it's PC versions. Can't tell anything about Max, not using it for many years, but I think it is quite odd, just like buying mac for installing windows on it :-) Anyway if you're a max user and you don't give a shit on any kind of fashion than you shouldn't spend a lot of parent's money (or your own) for a funky toy. But anyway PC sucks for sure if you are the musician. I bought a Stylus RMX license and only then I found there is no automations are available in windows version of Ableton for it. And should I say anything more about Logic on win? :-)
Good luck
