McLaren Mercedes SLR 722s Roadster Animation

Hello, my team and I have just completed an animation of the McLaren Mercedes SLR 722s Roadster, which is one of the most beautiful cars ever built, only 150 were ever produced to be the flagship car of Mercedes Benz and McLaren

Everything was done in 3D Studio Max version 9, using mental Ray
    Computer used:
Intel Core2 Quad CPU 2.4 Ghz with 4 Gig RAM
    Geforce 8600GTS
Time: The entitre animation, which lasts 1minute and 27 41 seconds, took a week (7 days) to render, with each frame rendered in Full High Definition quality, render time per frame was roughly 3 minutes
We decided to give something back to the fantastic commynity of artists here by giving some very helpful tips that will help you jump the various challenges that we had to face to complete this animation
Some important tips I need to share with you guys:
-The model had to be detailed, the polygon count reached 1,2 million polygons
The biggest challenge we had to face was Memory
The computer began to get a bit slow because of the amount of detail with this convertible super car, and the scene began to take about 5 minutes to load on an Intel Core 2 Quad computer with 2 Gig Ram
-At various times during testing, we had several occasions in which when we were rendering, all we would get would simply be a completly black frame, we tried everything to fix this issue, and we resolved the black frame render problem by doing the folowing:
We needed to install Windows 7 64 bit Edition and to run 3D Studio Max 9 x64 bit Edition so that 3D Max could access more of the computer's power
-We also had to force 3d max to use more memory, by going to Rendering->Render->Processing (Please see the picture below)

In this window, we increased the memory limit to at least 1200 Megabytes of RAM and we also turned on Mental Ray Map Manager
-We also noticed some serious limitations wit 3D Max because even the material editor bagen to take about 10 minutes to load the materials from the scene, so we had to constantly keep going to Utilities->Reset Material Editor Slots

I agree, but it's a matter of taste.

The car is pretty ugly, and so are the renders. But i guess it comes down to a matter of taste.
