3DS Max Car Modeling Tutorials - What would a noob need to know?

    Hi there!

I had a hard time with learning Max (lots of reasons that'll bore you now) and I've always promised myself that I would make tutorials that would help a complete Max noob to jump in and get quite far without spending as much time as I have to get where I am now.

I want to explain the basics, but aim it towards modeling car's specifically and the difficulties that relate to it.

At some point I'd like to do Tutorial 00 to really explain how to use Max and how to set up blue-prints and how to do editable poly etc etc. For now, I'm on 01 explaining the basics of creating a hard edge. In 02 I want to show how hard edge methods apply to a real model or something that represents a real model. 03 can be about the difficulties in splitting up your mesh once you start cutting into it and what it does when you've applied the smoother and how to counter it.

You guys must let me know what you battled with when you where a noob. Hehe try to remember. This way we could make these tutorials quite good. I would like to later do rendering too (but since I'm still noobish myself, I'll have to do that tut as I learn) and in the end I would like a kind of 'One Stop' pack of tutorials that'll take you from start to finish as best it can, that includes tricks and things you need to look out for in Max's problems.

Here's what I have so far. I just thought it would be funny to call it Noobjob Tutorials.

Time constraints have not allowed me to carry on with my tutorials for a complete noob just yet, but you might want to check these out:

Three videos by Luima one could find very useful.

I remember using this script once before, But couldn't recall what the name was. If you're running 3ds max 2011 and plus, you probably don't need this script anymore because you could use Graphite Modeling tool instead. I don't think they make script anymore for 2011 and 2012

To achieve this... Expand Graphite Modeling tool ribbon, and look into Freeform --> Poly Draw --> Strips. Make sure you have "Draw on object" turned on. And start drawing polies on the object.
EDIT: and oh! Make sure you select "New Object" before start drawing on object. You don't want strips and object you draw on attached together,

    Hope that helps

This guy's rules pretty much apply to all types of polymodeling.
