Renault Clio Studio tools tutorial (Sektor-41)

    Hi guys.
Because of Sektor-41 is no more available, i was wondering if someone can provide the Studio tools Renault Clio tutorial previously sold on Sektor-41 site (probably The RainKnight was the author).
I'm approaching to Alias Automotive and it may help me learning the tool.

    Thanks for any help.
    Raf

I remember the tutorial dvd case displaying the entire model but it could mean nothing if the contents were restricted to the front.
Btw i'll have a look to "learning design with alias studio tools" as suggested from tugra.

I would like to buy the DVD "Renault Megane Sport 2 in Alias Studio tools" by Sektor-41 to familiarize with the interface of the program. I've looked everywhere without success. Do you know where I can find the author of the tutorial? Thanks, Andrea

Exidge. Does the tutorial cover the entire car modeling or some parts only?

That tutorial is not really worth it, it looks like it is something good but it is not. It s just the front part of the megane and it is modelled as if it was done inside rhino.
It s far from being class A, which is not too important, BUT it is full of spans everywhere, and is a good tutorial for showing how you should NOT model inside Alias.
Yup, your right p2sta. It cost 50 euros. I have it anyway, if anyone is interested, but dont think you are missing something great, cause you are not.
And for those really interested in modelling in alias, there isnt and there has never been any good material realeased EVER.
You will have to learn the hard way and by yourself. The only place where there is some good theoretical stuff about alias is Autodesk University from the authors Barry Kimball and from Uwe Rossbacher.
Another thing that should be noted, is that, learning how to use alias is easy... The problem is how to model to class A standard, or how to model nurbs decently, with all the right thought behind surfacing. And this is kept as a dark science, and only car manufacturers have good training material for alias, which is kept secret, and has never been released. Which sucks big time. To use alias well, a great level of nurbs knowledge is needed, and it s hard to learn it alone, cause it is not at all intuitive. It s very hard.
Sorry for not being very helpful, but that s the truth. Good luck!

    Regards

Hi Ravenzep and all nurbs lovers here around. Alias interest is always growing, (in my mind too) expecially after you play with rhino. I tried thousands times to replicate the tutorial of The Rain Knight about a complete wheelarc in AST in Rhino. NOTHING... my laptop took a big knock on it, cause Rhino lacks in achieving a good matching and bla bla...So, I agree it seems you can't put away the Excalibur from the rock !! BUT !!!! About decent tuts on AST
I joined at the Graham Bullock website: www.learningalias.com (really cheap till you don't need it's personal help) There's a complete tut (videos a gogo) about a Beatiful Audi S5 fastback. Videos are streamlined and there are previews of them, but I can assure the single ones are much better. Obviously it's my opinion, but in front of the Megane tut they rock. So, why don't take a look.

To Ravenzep, it's beatiful find friends from time to time... eh eh.

    See ya all.

Sorry: the right link is: www.learningalias.co.uk/

Hi BOJA.... Nice to see ya mate.... Hope everything is fine with you .
Yes, u are right.... Rhino is very nice, and very smart. Nice application. But when it comes to modelling surfaces the right way, the way used in auto industry (sort of) of course it is not the right tool, neither it is intended to be. Alias and Icem are.
Yeah i had a look at that site... the car looks nice.... are the tuts good? does he use only 1 span in the exercices? hmmmm. Sounds almost too good to be trueClick here to enlarge

Take care Click here to enlarge
    Best regards
