Hi,
I have problems with my actual card (sapphire 3870 512 DDR4), and it is weak for new games and 4 milion polys +...
But, Im gamer too.. so i need something on graphics, and games also..
I have problems in games with my actual card.... every 5-10 mins it restart itself... In Call of Duty 2 I measured 87°C, i think thats a bit high temberature, i play ot on the lowest details, for more FPS... I have 10-15 second freeze game, until card retarts, and after 5 mins, again and again... But, yesterday, I had completely game freeze, I must reset PC, and after it there was colourful artefacts on full screen!
I'm thinking about GTX 460, 480 And from Ati about 5870 Vapor 2GB... And I need help with it, if you have some advises help me pls.... I have about 400 € on it...
I hope, somebody will help me!
Yeah its a simple temp. problem. do you overclocked your card? or just default clock's?
Well, if you have the Money buy a GTX480, but if you also would buy a ATI and would like to save money, then you would do nothing wrong with the Vapor-X 5870 (also a good and silent card)
Thx for fast answer, 480 looks very strong...
And, I have default clocks..... Actually I have downloaded ATI expert tool, and Increased fan speed to 100% but nothing new, still old problem..
Well the best GTX480 atm is the Zotac GTX 480 AMP! The only negative points about this card is, power consumption is high and the design with 2 axial fans needs 3 slots. If you buy a GTX480 with standard design (radial fan) like the Asus ENGTX480 you have to accept high loudness on 3D.
If oyu have temperature problems try at first to find out where they come from, the card itself or maybe because the computer itself has cooling problems. After you have sorted that out you may want to check several options on gfx cards. GTX480 is for sure the fastest nvidia card, however I would suggest the 470 itself because the biggest card is always much more expensive compared to the speed advantage it offers.Check power requirements, they both need a lot of juice. On ATI side I would suggest the 5850 for the same reasons over the 5870 AND do not forget to double check reports on stability of your games on those cards. The best card is worth nothing if your software does not run stable on it. Good luck

Thx for answer
My brother has the same graphics card, so I tried to change it, and I played about 2 hours without "Ati driver has stopped responding and has recovered" error... But... Now I have problems with 2nd kind freezeing of game... It absolutelly freeze, and I have to restart PC... I was changed, RAMs and CPU too... Possible reason might be only power source, but with my source on brother's PC was no freeze in 2 hours.. I didnt try brothers source, because some cables was too short :-X....
Ok never mind... I decided, I want GTX 460, but i dont know which exactly... ASUS has better cooling (and Voltage tweak technology???), but lower core and memory clock as ZOTAC, GAINWARD or PALIT...
Yes, when using such high juice graphics cards the PSU needs to be a good one, so a check would make sense. The 460 is also a good card, I would not bother about any overclocking options, in the real world being faster 1-5% really does not make any sense. I would shop for one that has a good cooling solution instead.

In that case i would buy the Gainward GTX460 Golden Sample GLH!
You just need a Bios-Update so that the fan controller works better. After that you'll will have a nice, fast, silent (in contrast to reference designs) and cheap GPU
Duron: Yes, I'll probably take it... GLH is nice overclocked, but i dont know nothing about temperatures of it... BTW Golden sample and Golden Sample and Goes Like Hell are differents cards :P
Ant thx for advice, I wil ltry update bios..
Well, it depends on how big is your monitor.. 2GB pays only if you play on FullHD or higher Res. +high AA settings.
But for FullHD or lower 1GB are enough!
And what about GS 2gb for the same price like GLH, and overclock it like GLH?
Well, thats an idea but theres points you have to consider.
The GLH has a factory OC - that means that the OC settings are with warranty.
So if you buy 2GB and OC it like the GLH (written in the stars) you dont have any warranty for this OC. You could but its your risk.
Whether you will get this setting as the GLH? Maybe you have to increase the coreVoltage of the GPU.. and if so then you'll have 100% no warranty cuz of changed bios settings.
Ok, ths, so I will buy GTX 460 Gainward GLH :buttrock:
But, at first I must fix problem with absolutely freezing in games.... It does source, or mother board... But, i cant try other motherboard at this time, so I realy dont know how to fix it.... While playing, it regularly freeze, + ugly noise sound in headset... Then i must reset it....
the freezes i think its because of the temp of your card.
for a couple of weeks ago i bought new HDD and placed it right under the G.card. so the Gcard got off all the hot air from the hdd. after that i played BFBC² and got freezes.. after playin half an hour long. i wondered why and acetified. later i noticed that it maybe cuz of the hdd.. puted it away and since then never had freezes..
