Animation - better with 3DS or VUE?

    Hello,
I am currently experiencing Vue and 3DS Max and would like to know which software "combination" you would recommend to create animations? i have read on this forum that one might import the car model into Vue and animate there, others say they animate their environment in Vue and their car in 3DS and then combine both (by the way, how is this supposed to work?).... what delivers better quality?

    Thank You!

i could help in here, really VUE is a great program for environments but its very expensive in render times, also to combine them, VUE makes these plugins for your 3d app so you cold make the environments in Maya or 3dsmx, but for environments for cars, i would say just do it from scratch in 3dApp, or make some in VUE and export the models and render in your 3d app, VUE is very good at realistic environments, its just really expensive render times, Example VUE Xstream is a plugin to have VUE Menus inside 3dsmax.

    Thank You very much.

I think I'll go for the export ot the Vue scene to 3ds Max. What kind of settings do I have to choose? Can I also import the atmosphere and use it in 3ds max?

    Thank You!

i m not a vue user but what i could say is that you need to combine them in postproduction software....so create and render the environement in vue, then track(or sort of export) the camera to 3d max and animate your car according to the camera. Or you can make it opposite, from max to vue, whatever...
The backplates should be rendered with transparent alpha or if not, create masks... and in the end, merge them into the postproduction software.

you could actually do all of that in 3dsmax, you just need VUE Xstream for 3dsmax, you have everything from VUE Atmospheres etc in 3dsmax, check out the link it has all the info

Hello and thanks for the answers.

Unfortunately I cannot affod Vue xStream and therefore I think the solution with the camera tracking should be a good one. The question is: wouldn't it be better to first animate the car in 3ds max and tracking/exporting it to Vue?

The second would be: how can I track/export a camera in 3ds Max? Is there any tutorial?

    Thank You!

it depends what animation Ur gonna have if you are animating a camera flying through the environment its better to animate the camera in VUE and then export the camera and dummy's etc to 3ds max. then animate your car according to that camera move. Exporting the camera from VUE should be str8 forward just select cam and export make sure you check animation.

hey buddy! well as an amateur VUE user, i suggest not to work with this software unless u have super render farm. VUE is master of flickr. Vue 9 has optimized this problem but still it has a lot of flickr like the sea, trees with wind...and textures. I'd say u can use other software and plugins and u can ashive the same thing. If you need landscapes you can use " terragen" or " geocontrol". They were perfect for me.
Anyway, you can still try cuz m still using vue with its flickr because i just love that software.
    Hope that helps.
    Peace!
