    Just a quick question.

Hi guys, need a bit of help.

Just so that my mind will stop nagging me.

I am buying a new PC with an i7 920 Processor and 6Gb of RAM but I am keeping my original GFX card which is a 6800GS.

Question is: Do you think I will need to replace the graphics card? I would rather not as I don't want to spend much more than I have too. If you think I definitely do then can you post one that you deem necessary.

    Thanks in advanced.

me againClick here to enlargeI don't think you should keep it. It's too old and belongs to the museum! And your computer would not be balanced. Get yourself something newer .I have got GF 260 GT with 860 mb memory and I'm quite satisfied with it.

Hello mate Click here to enlarge

Do I really need a new one though? I know it's old but I do not play any games with it at all.

Maybe you should test your card with Cinebench or something and compare your results with other, new cards and then decide. When I bought my new system I was surprised how my workflow has improved. And this new card can handle much more polygons in the scene,so you don't have to turn the other parts off

I don't understand the question. What do you really mean? Is the question whether you need to buy a new graphics card because you have a new System or whether you should, because your current is very old?

If you think you have to change your GPU, cuz of a new sys, then you dont have to, i think it will still work fine. But if the talk of the performance, then damn you should buy new one Click here to enlarge

Dave.. Question to you, what type of slot does your Graphic card (that you want to keep) use? PCI, AGP or PCIe?

Just letting you know, Most newer motherboards with current up to date processors i.e. i7 do not include AGP slot on mainboard anymore.... They replaced it to PCIe for Graphic and Sound Card. Yes PCI do exist on mainboard but they are not designed for a card that requires additional 5 to 12 V

So if you have Graphic Card that has AGP slot, then yes, you would need a new Graphic card (get PCIe or PCIx depending on your motherboard type)...

    Hope that helps
