About the Video:
I´m not going into details about the modo Interface or specific tools and i´m using loads of hotkeys. So this isn´t a tutorial on how to model in modo. It is more of a demonstration of my workflow and how to create an evenly spaced and clean mesh. If you know your software this should easily translate to other 3D packages.
thanks for the positive feedback guys
and i guess you´re talking about inserting edgeloops... right?
max does that too.... but there it´s called connect :banghead:
the more i think about it, isn't the tool closer to quickslice? or am i just crazy? (davecox better not be reading this_)
regards,
rodder
quickslice just cuts through the mesh in a straight line and it´s quite easy to create tris and maybe other unwanted stuff
whereas selecting an edge ring and using the connect tool creates a new edgeloop dividing the adjacent polygons exactly in the middle. conserving the quad topology.
with the connect tool you also have several options like segements, slide and pinch which can be quite handy.
yeah, it's just that it seemed that the new edges were really straight in spots which reminded me of quickslice. anyhow, thanks again for the video and the reply. modo looks nice.
Thank you 211 NOW I finally can start learning car modeling Technique with Modo
Edit: Just one question, Let say, If I have done with one part of car i.e. hood. WHat technique would you use to start fender with perfect surface continuity? LMK
man...really?
ok you just extrude the border edges and work your way down the fender or whatever direction you´re going. (before you do all the extruding and bevelling of the seams...ofcourse )
Or choose another modelling technique or mix the techniques. as i stated... it isn´t that much about the hood or modo. it´s more of a demo what you can do with the slide, bevel and push (=normal move) tools and how the wise usage of those tools can give you very clean results.
but if that technique doesn´t work for you, don´t use it. i for example suck at boxmodelling and therfore i don´t do boxmodelling
ok if you put it that way, i don´t suck completely at boxmodelling haha
hmm of course you´re right with that specific part, my workflow may look like boxmodelling but usually i do a lot of edge extruding also and that´s the reason for my boxmodelling statement.
I also see boxmodelling strictly as the "start with a box end with a complete car" process and that´s the part i don´t get
