    Turbopok - Peugeot Prance

Hi guys, finally back to this forum after many busy weeks doing school assignments and all those crap... Anyway here's my concept, Peugeot Prance, submitted 30 minutes late, whole car not shown due to me being complacent and doing the renders last minute (overestimated my sucky Pentium 4 3ghz Click here to enlarge) Can't say much but learn from this lesson... Hope you like it, and will probably post more renders if I have the time this weekend:chinese:

Really, really regret not putting in the best for better results to be submitted Click here to enlarge

SvdM: Thanks, I will spend more time improving the model and learning how to make better renders, but I'm not sure when I can accomplish that with all the schoolwork I have... Posting from the school library's computer Click here to enlarge

uu73: Heh thanks mate, but if you look closely there are actually bumps at the ends of the chamfered lines... Because my model is quite low-poly :o:

Can you show us your basic wireframe? That would be nice to see... Which method did you use for the door and bonnet seems (aka panel gaps)?

I would like to see you go on with it as it is such a nice car... maybe we can get some concepts on the frontpage in the not too distant future? Click here to enlargeClick here to enlarge

I hope to do some work on mine this weekend.

    Sure, here you go..

Anyway, for the seams I cut edges in the vertex mode, then chamfer the edges with a value of 0.25 (but it will most likely vary for different people with different models of different scale). Actually I intended to extrude the seams and chamfer the edges such that the seams look more realistic, but I was really short of time at that moment :dead:

I think I will improve the proportions of this concept but it wouldn't be done so soon since I have 2 tests next week and I am only free on tuesdays, thursdays and the weekend... Trampoline trainings on mondays, wednesdays and fridays never fail to make me so tired after reaching home at around 8pm... That's the life in Singapore :/

    Cool...

Hey Pok (You say we can call you that right?Click here to enlarge). Sounds like you have a busy life. Trampoline - so you do gymnastics?

I am glad you will give the car another go. I hope you save incrementally with Max (you know: 01, 02, 03 etc) because there are some parts that I think you might want to do again. There are also some strange polygons cut in half without the edges joining to edges in the adjacent mesh.

I still have to learn how to make that grill - I want to do something similar to yours, but a hexagonal shape cut-out... and also figure out so much - I don't know Max modeling well at all :dead:!

Haha I'd prefer to be called Pok since that's what my schoolmates call me too. Life is rather busy in school (Raffles Institution) and the days I live for are the tuesdays, thursdays, weekends and holidays Click here to enlarge And yup I used to do a bit of gymnastics since last year I got transferred to trampoline..

Anyway I do save backups, almost every half an hour i spend on the model. Hmm thanks for pointing that out, I really need to correct some parts of the mesh but sometimes I just can't figure out a way to clear the mess :dead:

By the way are you intending to model the hexoganal grille like those found on some of the Beemers? Like in this picture below?

I've done a similar grille before because of some BMW concept which I've stopped working on... Try creating an 6 sided N-gon, convert it to editable poly, modify it to the shape you want, clone a copy of it and resize it such that you can use the cloned copy for booleaning on the original N-gon. Then use array or clone it manually to get a full grille, attach them as an object, and use quickslice to cut and delete the excess part of the grille. Hope it works for you Click here to enlarge

Looks interesting but too much of an Alfa look alike to be called a true concept car :deal:

cg_donkey: Thanks.. But in which way does it look too much like an Alfa?

Just the side and rear view have Alfa language. I am not accusing you of copying I am just saying that the language is very similar to an Alfa. Click here to enlarge

    Erm...

    Hey Pok,

I'd say, the edgyness of the car is akin to most modern concepts, but I think especially the rear lights reminds of Alfas - they have been doing the narrow rear lights for a long time now Click here to enlarge, as well as rather narrow front lights.

Thanks for the quick tut on the grille - yeah, lucky for me (noob) I understand what you are saying and will try your method Click here to enlarge.

Rodderword... for some reason I have completely forgotten about the tutorial section :o (don't know why). I think it is after the site underwent changes.

cg_donkey: Oh... On a second look the taillights do look Alfa-ish and if I were to reposition the number plate area lower down nearer to the bottom of the bumper then it would have looked even more like an Alfa. Guess I will have to add some Peugeot design cues :clown:

SvdM: Yup actually it looks rather like the Jaguar C-XF, just that my concept looks more clumsy :o:

Oh ya and don't forget to extrude the polygons (I was quite tired and sleepy when I typed that reply so I forgot...). I don't think you will need to use meshsmooth if you are not very into details. Hope to see good results!:clown:
