well trk, sounds nice man, but im not convinced yet heheh, im a real rhino junky and i think with the g infinity blending coming, rhino will be tuff competition for alias,
anyways, nice update, cant wait to see it finished man,...
thx for comments guys...the modelling has been interupted by another project (for a customer)...should be able to go on on this after 20th of februar...so stay tuned
Hey, how do you set up your blueprints in StudioTools? Is there a way to access the other ortho views (bottom, right, front)? Flipping my model and changing image planes to work on another side is starting to get annoying.
That's a nice tutorial of yours man. Its useful as I'm planing to learn rhino
About your car,... they've already said everything you need to know. just keep goin
in the 13.0 one, no need to create an image plane. Just copy the picture you want to use as blueprint (in photoshop or even in Paint lol), then in AST, paste it with Ctrl+Shift+V in the view you want: it will create the plane automatically.
in previous versions (in 11 for sure), you have to create a plane fist, like 19-2000 said.
Hi rain knight. I'm in the process of learning AST also, pretty much for the same reason you stated about having a professional resume. It seems to be a more professional package all round, and like you said forces accuracy. Right now I'm just making simple objects though until I'm proficient enough to try a vehicle. Luckily, coming from Maya, it has a lot of similarities with terminologies etc. so it's reasonably easy to pick up.
There are some excellent tutorials out there on Alias's homepage, if you haven't cheked them out yet. I highly recommend the "magic corner set of tutorials" which gives an excellent overview of getting precise trimmed surfaces. Also, they just came out with a new 300 page book in full color that focuses on modeling a car, which can also be purchased from their homepage.
One question though, did you buy the full commercial version? If so I'm very jealous as it costs thousands of dollars. I'm just working with the PLE until I become a millionaire :$:
well, long time no update, but since i have the real car 20 meters far from me at work (gorgeous in its blue paint...), i realized i was some way wrong on the rear fender....renault sport engineers have made a whole new side panel, with the body line going further on the outside (as mentionned on the pic). the wheel arch volume is then beginning much more from the front of the car, near the door seem, door which is the same as on the classic stock version. around the rear lights, there's an offfset between the side panel and the light too, the light being the classic stock one, too...
i'll see how i can change all that things without breaking the whole rear (damn).
first of all very nice trk i like your clio very much and about ast is there a trial version because i myself want to become a car designer and i dont like rhino that much i feel more confident with ast after seeing a few videos on this link http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet...112&id=6871498. TRK i would like to ask you as a pro how long will it take for a beginner to model a full car in ast and can you write us an ast tutorial whenever you have the spare time just a couple of pages each week. Now i must say im really stunned with ur other tut the audi tt using rhino simply amazing but as i said i would like to learn ast because thats the tool car designers use. One last question im in grade 10 does anyone know how i can do work expirience for a car company just for a few weeks?
