3DS rigging: steering with Toy Car or alternatives

Hi, I've been exploring the routes for rigging a car in 3DS with the toy car plugin in Max and manual rigging using an incomplete tutorial from CGtalk.

    [ame]http://youtube.com/watch?v=g3DjyN-tEpA&fmt=18[/ame] manual
    [ame]http://youtube.com/watch?v=V264CIHWy6I&fmt=18[/ame] toy car

Basically I need to have this truck steaming through a canyon that's already prepared, there are a few corners in the track and it's due in a few weeks.

Can anyone link to some good tutorials? There's one really good one on YouTube but it lacks audio and it's so low resolution that I can't understand any of it.

This is the French one I used for manual rigging.. problem is the four wheel detection rig isn't detailed and my lack of experience in Max means I can't decipher it from the .max file (as linked) on my own. http://laurent.renaud.free.fr/loran-tutorial05-uk.html#bonus

have you looked at the madcar plugin? there was some posting about it a few months ago that seemed to indicate it was a viable option.

    regards,

Thank you good sir, I didn't realise Max plugins could be a erm, a non commercial platform.

edit. Got it hooked up but the car keeps falling through the plane I made. Did anyone have this problem?

Okay got it running, very good but my PC can't handle the realtime running at higher than a few frames per second, and it's not responsive enough for me to test and tweak the suspension/speeds/rudder.

    Plus it doesn't support 6 wheels. Here's what I made: [ame]http://youtube.com/watch?v=aY3F5ejFFtU&fmt=18[/ame]

I'll have to try something else.

    Hi,
I have a problem when I tried to download the madcar plugin. It appeared at the top of the page a message which says:
"This program cannot be run in DOS mode"

Has someone had the same problem ??:banghead:
I would appreciate if somebody could give me the solution to download this plugin.Click here to enlarge

Sounds like a problem with your Windows mode or install settings. Can't help more than that.

Can't do that buddy, it's a protected plugin and I'm sure the site owners would appreciate you not discussing sharing of it on their site.
