A small excerpt from the presskit:
For the world premier of the new Dodge Model "Journey" on the International car-tradeshow in Frankfurt, Germany (IAA) Mackevision has created a productspot that is another step forward in 3d-technology. For the first time a spot that combines dynamic driving shots as well as humans interacting
with the car was created without using a real prototype, a stand-in or a mock-up model of the car on set. The car was created completely in 3d throughout
the whole spot. The actors were filmed in front of greenscreens or re-created digitally and have been integrated during post-production. This technique
has already been used partly in products-pots and commercials but the realization of a complete project with only a virtual prototype defines a whole new
range of possibilities and advantages compared to traditional methods of production.
You can find the spot on our homepage in both streaming and downloadable versions.
The making-of as well as the cleanplate edit might get back online at a later date.
incredible work. i had to work hard to notice anything even remotely cg and the making of was a blast to watch as always. there's a reason this is called the professional showcase and you are it:love:
But, I notice a bit of floating in the animation. Guess it has to do with the camera tracking. Also in some shots, reflections from the sun in the road are not 100% masked where the car cast shadows. Tricky stuff I guess.
Anyway, top notch. Haven't seen much better than this.
I'm not sure i really get the question. There's nothing special about the amount of apps used i'd say.
1. Syntheyes for Matchmoving
2. 3d Studio Max + VRay to make pretty renderings
3. Nuke to put it all together and make a neat picture
4. Framecycler DI for defining a look and make the final grading with the Director
Can you elaborate a bit more on what you want to know ?
The only negative comment I have is the sound design, just seems like they don't quite fit what the car is doing and seem to be mixed a bit high, other than that great work
