You´re right, checked the ref images again. will fix it...

i switched from max to maya 1 year ago because we are using maya here at work. i use max and vray only for rendering.

completely modeled in maya (smooth 1 optimized), rims are nurbs. i had a CAD mesh of the stock car as reference.
i think i see a few tris on your wheel just to check, since my memory of maya is bad, your wire is with smooth applied or is it that dense (yeah, it's the same question as cwikdahl)
So it's like BB wrote, kind of a multi level sub-d workflow with no going back: Start out quite rough, apply smooth, delete history, tweak/model at smoothed level and finally apply one iteration of smoothing for rendering?
It's something I've thought about but never tried for real.
I've never tried slamming a 1 iteration smooth and making it an editable
poly, i think its something you do either when all the edges\seams are done
or before all the edges\seams are done, for instance, if you need to make
a tricky indent in the side of a car, its reasonable to do it for last with a 1
iteration smooth to keep surface continuity. but still i'd be hesitant for it :x
Anyhow, nice car element, what about some test renders? :x
