100% Acurate Prints...How much would the be worth to you?
Ok so Im not entirely sure if this will happen, but if there is enough interest I will certainly try to make it happen.
The company that I work for creates cars from captured data from the surface of the actual car making it 99% as accurate as the original CAD data. If I were to take those models and render out top, side, front and rear shots with absolutley no perspective, how many people would be interested in purchasing these highly acurate blueprints? I know there are alot of great prints out there but I personally have never found any that are pristine. Granted, there is a possibility that my employer will just say no because there is not much possibility for reasonable profit.....but if enough people would be willing to purchase them, I think I might be able to talk to him about making this happen. So, who might be interested?
What car options do we get? You would definitely need to find cars no1 has prints too.
Well we just did around 100 cars for a game thats coming out soon so we have all those plus all the ones from other clients. It would be a stretch to even get him to let me do it for the cars we already have...so it wouldnt nessesarily be a request type of thing, more like, if we have it already. The main point of me suggesting this however is to offer prints that are, without a doubt acurate. I find that often times prints are good, but just off enough to make it difficult. But I can say that we have alot of newer cars like the new Eclipse, old Eclipse, stuff like that aswell as quite a few exotics. No Ferraris of Lambos yet. Is there something in specific you were interested in?
To be honest the way I see it is that I would never buy a blueprint unless a client asked me to model a vehicle that doesn't already have blueprints and he cannot support me with any.

Thats understandable. Thats why its mainly an inquiry. By the looks of it I would guess that everyone is happy with the way things are lol. Who knows though...maybe I can talk my boss into letting me use some sample prints so I can make a car and then I can give you guys the prints aswell. We will see though

yeah , that would be really nice , but i think it would be better if they were reference photos for the cars , specially for the detailed parts that aren't easily visible in the pictures available on the net(e.g. the headlights , rear lights , engine , interior ,brakes .......etc [ you know... those stuff]) , and if they were from different angles (for the same part) it would be a lot better .......just a thought , but the prints are good too

Funny you say that, lol...Cause we actually take alot of photos because we have the car in front of us, so why not, lol.... Ill mention that to my boss aswell.
in determining the price, it's worth the effort it would take us to obtain some prints:
take the value of a brochure, the time spent acquiring it, the time spent scanning and perfecting it. assign the time a monetary value. finally, a small mark-up to account for rarity. that's my view on it. i doubt everyone would pay for it though.

Yeah I know... If I made them gray and rendered them out it wouldnt really take all that long. They would be at least 2000x1000 so they are clear. But the only reason I say anything is because I know that when I model from prints it such a pain to a) find complete prints b) find prints that are high enough res to do any good and c) prints that are at least 80-90% accurate in regards to the other sides. So yeah, to sum it up, I thought of this idea so that when you model from the prints Im proposing, you can do so with a peace of mind that any "speed bumps" you may run into, (pun intended ) will be user based and not print based. Plus, I think it will make it alot easier on the noobs
fair enough. i only was proposing a model to come up with a dollar figure. we can't assume what you had to do so it makes more sense to charge us for the work we could do and thus the work we've avoided doing.
