I am new to this thread so I figured I'll try to make my first post as intriguing as possible. I have a background in auto design so most of my modelling is done is AutoStudio (and a little bit in SolidWorks).
What you see here is one of my projects from school. The design phase took about 5 weeks (concept/sketches yada yada...). Modelling about 3 weeks (it was very painfull, dont ask to see the wire). I also had to build the physical model. I had no time to properly finish the CAD model thats why this is pretty low in details like door handles/mirrors etc).
I am currently using 'HyperShot' (from Bunkspeed) to generate my final renderings. The rendering setup took less than 1 hr and each actual rendering probably took less than 30mins (screenres). My primary lighting source was an HDR image of a photo studio. The rendering was probably the least painfull part of the whole process. (considering I spent 1 week sanding the real thing and then painting it)
LOL, yeah not many people have. www.fiskercb.com coachbuilt cars designed by the guy who came up with the Aston Martin AMV 8 and BMW Z8. Modelling was painfull (Alias StudiTools) rendering was easy (HyperShot - by Bunkspeed.com).
Very nice concept... In a way I find this look resemblance to Aston Martin Vintage or Saab Aero. In reality, I'd keep this as two doors since pillars in look too short. But hey this is a concept! There are no rules or limitation. .
which pillars look too short? (C pillar perhaps) check out the lexus IS 250 rear passenger head sits right inside the C pillar (I tried to setup my passenger compartment in a similar manner). - but yeah you are right since it is a concept I can get away with a lot of crap.
Yeah, C Pillar is what I mean... (Sorry I didn't mention that early) Maybe it isn't really much of concern to "Short-People" LOL, but based on my experience, I have sit and rode on my sister IS250 in the rear... Boy it was really annoying ride, I had to bend my neck whole time... if I don't I would go unconscious if top of my head hits on the roof especially when it comes to bumpy roads.(I couldn't believe it was Lexus because I expected it as luxury and comfortable ride ) So, technically speaking, A 4-doors car with steep/short C-Pillar isn't really good for tall people like me (I'm 6'2" feet tall).
But again like I said, its a concept! If it would go into production I am sure there are way to alter design.
Anyway I have attached you image so I could clarify you on what I mean.
Interesting. Is Bunkspeed's hyperShot available to the public already? In the FAQ it stated early of May, 2007. Now it has changed to early of June. I haven't really seen much from the render-engine yet, been waiting for it to go public and see how it really performs.
