    Advices please!

Hi guys, I have been quite busy lately, and I just got a new printer with a scanner, so I actually had the chance to scan my sketches at home, rather than in the school library. Here is my new sketch Click here to enlarge I actually wanted to let it have that 'defensive' kind of look, by making the headlights part of the front grille, but it looks kind of wierd..

Look, I can't tell you specifically what areas you have to improve, all I can telll you is, Practice, just practice. After you make a sketch wait an hour at least, and then, go and watch it again and then you will realize where you get wrong. Also, seeing a lot of car pic's will help you to improve your perspectives (watch the wheels and windows).
That's all I can say, I'm just an enthusiastic Designer, so another one can help you much better than me.

    cheers

Not bad for a 14 year old, but don't let that make you slack, keep practicing and remember to have fun with it as well Click here to enlarge

doing a great job mate, as someone else just watch your perspective, and leran how to draw circles in perspective, cant stress that enough (which are called eclipses, which you seem to be doing pretty well). also there are angles which are easier to draw and can look really cool, i.e front quarter with huge perspective on it. also the easiet angles to draw are ones you actually see, try not to get too high when drawing, cause how often are you looking down on a car?

ive just gone over one of your drawings showing where your center line should of been, learn to draw a centre line for your car as it really helps in keep it all together. plus ive a really quick sketch of of a more common angle to draw cars from, notice how the centre line is all the way over so you dont have to draw both sides of the car! Click here to enlarge anyway do whatever your comfortable with and keep up the good work, wish i had drawn more cars at school cause now ive had to bust my ass off at uni learning Click here to enlarge

*edit* drawing a little dodgy sry, havent used my wacom in weeks, much prefer sketching on paper Click here to enlarge

Thanks mate! Click here to enlarge I have seen the picture you attached and the center line does help a lot in the perspective. I will try it one day!

    hi turbopok ...
i'm learning how 2 draw right now & my car sketches r better & better since i foud this:

    a) http://archive.cardesignnews.com/stu...ials/index.php
    b) http://www.carbodydesign.com/2d-car-...tutorials.html

look @ link b) and 2 tutorials by scott robertson on how 2 draw ellipses & perspective. u ganna be surprised how easy u can draw PROPER cars angle/position/perspective ... other thing is ur line quality Click here to enlarge urz r kinda SHARPED Click here to enlarge look @ ginge car scetch ... he draw 1 "quick" line ... i mean u "re-drow" ur lines (i mean u draw few lines in the same place 2 get correct line-curve & ur line getting wider & wider) ... i did the same & still sometimes i forget myself Click here to enlarge but it's easy 2 control ... JUST DRAW LIGHTLY & TRY 2 BE ACCURATE ... use eraser when ur line is wrong ... don't draw new one on it ... & practise, practise & practise ... thats the KEY Click here to enlarge

    good luck & pozdro

mate, thanks for the reply and suggestions. Actually I intend to draw a rough draft of the concept and then outline it on a fresh piece of paper. I am trying to make my own 'tracer' by putting a LED light bulb in a clear plastic box file. But the lines are very jagged as the file is quite compressible. My school has something like that, but it is like a plastic board with a circular light bulb behind and it is supported by some pieces of plastic. Hope to get my hands on it one day.:chinese: By the way I think I should start with drawing some cuboids and boxes before I draw the car, so as to get a rough gauge of the pespective. Thanks for the links mate!Click here to enlarge

2 be honest ... i don't know what for u need this stuff -> 'tracer' ... if u want 2 learn draw all u need is piece of paper & pen/pencil/etc. ... i draw with different "mediums" ... starting with a SIMPLE PEN + PAPER (sometimes "half" printed ... all u need is a piece of space on it) ... ending with tablet ... JUST DRAW & TEACH UR HAND & EYES ... using rulers, drawing curve, compasses, tracer, etc. is stuff that u use when u (already) have skills & u need PRECISION ...
i have tons of pieces of paper full of my drawings, lots of files on my HD with my cg-drawings ... that's the KEY ... DRAW, DRAW & DRAW ... train ur hand & eyes

believe me u don't need nothing else than paper+pen+time+these links 2 learn how 2 draw Click here to enlarge

    Some updates

Hi guys, I have did some changes for the car and included a rear view. I am quite out of ideas for the rear so it is like everything dumped together (the vents, exhaust pipes, reflectors, etc). But somehow the rear light looks nice to meClick here to enlarge. Give me some feedback pleaseClick here to enlarge
