Ok, this is the first test.
Yep VERY bad model Click here to enlarge
I disconnected the sidewalls, from the center so that I could just chuck a displacement on it.

Otherwise, at the moment, apart from the render settings I copied what was originally said.
The camera is a Vray cam, the f.stop is down to 2 as it was very dark with the lights at 7 and 5 (maybe since I'm using 'mm' for my units?).

Well, as you can clearly see, it looks BAD !

And this is most likely your biggest problem. A shader wont fix a bad model. You're getting edges as your displacement doesnt line up. Settings are too low and the model wont look good no matter what you do to the shader. Do one of the many tyre tuts and try shading a nice model instead.

    Regards,
    Thorsten

Ok, I'll model the main part tomorrow (was just in the mood to test it out tonight).
Looking at the OP, I can't tell if its modelled all the way or displacement ?

Was looking for suitable tutorials for the tyres:
    tire-modeling-in-3d-max

    shelby-mustang-gt500-wheel

I'm not new to 3d but I have been out of the loop for just over a year, so everything will SLOWLY come back to me...I hope Click here to enlarge

Okies, sorted it out now Click here to enlarge

I saw the main problem was the mix colour of the 2nd slot, my one was white instead of dark grey Click here to enlarge
