    This thread is a bit old but I had to give credit where it's due. This tutorial explained it very well and although I don't model cars, it will be helpful in other areas of my 3D.

    Hi, Great tutorial,

    Worked much better than others I tried to follow. However, I just cant seem to get my decal to appear on top of my paint. When I assign the decal material to the poly's where where I want it to appear it gives my model a blank white texture. The decal appears fine but I just can't seem to have both paint and the decal.

    I'm fairly new to 3ds max but I'd really appreciate it if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong. I think it may have something to do with the Alpha channels in the Tiff but I seem to be checking the option

    Ok, It's definately the way I'm saving my tiffs cos I tried your Esso decal and it worked perfectly
