My first external shape of a real car was this Lamborghini Gallardo. I did it following a 24h tutorial, and I'm quite happy about the result. It was done in SolidWorks, but I'm a CATIA V5 user, and I'd like to try the next one in CATIA. It's amazing the level achieved arround!! Don't take into account the ugly areas :P

What makes me unconfident is the amount of CATIA users versus 3DS, and the amount of help for 3DS.

well, is because u'll never find a model in a movie that has been made with catia! i mean, catia is a cad professional program, used by engineers for creating shapes that has to be produced. it requires more knowledge about how this piece of geometry will be produced when using catia, instead in 3ds (or ny other poly modeling software) u don't need that =) Different target has different tool and different users =) u should know all that and "we" should be thankfull that not everyone use catia XD so we will always find a job XD haha =) lol joking =)

By the way, nice model =)

I accidently made a new thread, but this is where I intended to post. Man I really am a noob.

Here is my first car.... It is certainly far from perfect. Obviously there are a lot of things in the geometry that could be improved and adjusted. When I started making the car, I was trying to hit a triangle count that fell in the range of a high end game asset. I ended up ditching that half way through when I was having trouble consolidating texture files. I also had a lot of trouble getting the fine detail in brushed stainless steel show up when placed on a texture for an explicitly unwrapped body.

I would really like to find help on others work flows for creating materials and rendering techniques.
