Hi,

here is a free giveaway from http://www.maground.com the new image archive for landscapes, cities and roads:

A free set of HDRI with 8 backplates from http://www.maground.com downloadable with this link:

https://www.maground.com/download/MAGROUND_CGI_Set.zip

The ZIP file is 530MB in size.

We would be really delighted to see some of your work using these images. The best 5 of them would be posted with their name and website in our news section and mentioned in our newsletter and blog. (blog.maground.com)

The only catch is you must put the following text on every image which is published (all printed media and internet):

HDRI and Backplate from [url]http://www.maground.com
copyright 2010 MAGROUND

It would be great if you can email us your final images, telling us which tools you used. Also we would appreciate if the image you send us would be minimum 5000pixel wide (or native size of the backplate). You can post them also here for discussion if you like to.

To email your final images or If you have any problems in downloading the images please send us an email to mail@maground.com.

Hi guys I tried to use the hdri maps in max but it keeps saying I/O error/ memory error. The size of the hdri is 200+mb. Is there any way to reduce the file sizes so it does work in max?

Use photoshop to reduce the image size. Still works fine.

I see some of you have some very nice renders.
I have been trying these out the last day or so and I'm having some problems.
Did any of you find the HDR to be overly dark, and whenever you upped the intensity in any your 3d application a lot of yellow light came out of the hdr as well as the reflection went orange?
Or have you all modified it to suit in photoshop?

Some help would be appreciated

well yes, it was orange. that's right.
(cinema 4d) i created a material where the hdr image was in the lights-channel (it was orange). i reduced the intensity of that channel to 80% or so and then i added a material-color-channel (some blue or cyan color) to neutralize that orange. so the hole thing became grey again.

i worked with c4d so i don't know if (or how) it works in 3dmax or another application.

Which effect is everyone using for the motion blur in this scene? Radial blur zoom?

Brombaer
08-24-2010, 10:30 PM
The rendering from Elay was done with our software VRED Essentials which does a real 3D motion blur, no 2D tricks necessary.
